China University of Geosciences at Wuhan Holds The 3rd Language Studies Research Forum for Young Scholars was held at CUG

Young scholars from more than 70 universities at home and abroad, such as University of the Basque CountryUniversidad del País Vasco and , Huazhong University of Science and Technology, etc., have conducted had discussions on the theme of "Foreign Language Education Planning for Taking Chinese Education Internationalizationto the Global Stage".

According to vice president Lai Xulong, in the context of promoting "Global Governance"and "the Belt and Road Initiative",foreign language education in  universities must be developed from broad vision to build a large pattern, cultivate the feelings of nation and country and serve the grand strategy for the country. It Universities should strengthen first-class undergraduate education, build first-class majorsdisciplines, and train top talents to provide a high-level talent support of foreign language for the implementation of foreign strategy strategies and the construction of a modern, powerful socialist country. Plenty of language education researchers and educators, especially young scholars,should assume the responsibility and mission to promote take "Chinese Education education Internationalization"to the global stage and enhance the discourse power and influence of Chinese higher education of foreign language in the world.

　Dong Yuanxing, dean of the School of Foreign Languages at CUG, introduced the theme and significance of the forum. He indicated said that, for decades, the School of Foreign Languages had been adhering to the school motto of “working hard with plain living style,seeking truth with pragmatic attitude”being diligent and frugal while seeking truth and being practical. A complete model mode of foreign language teaching has been formed after several generations of exploration. The college attaches great importance to academic exchanges and encourages teachers to study abroad. He hoped that participants of this forum can to take this the opportunity to further communicate with experts and scholars, so as to make contributions toplay a role in taking Chinese education to the global stage.The forum set upconsists of four segmentssessions: "Keynote Speeches by Senior Experts", "“Speeches by Young Scholars", "Dialogue between Between Editors in Chief of Chinese and Foreign Academic Journals" and "Poster Exhibition".

   In the session of "Keynote Speeches by Senior Experts", were professorProfessors Gao Xuesong, Professor Durk Gorter, Professor Jasone Cenoz, Professor Xu Jinfen, Professor Zhang Xiaolan, Professor Shen Qi, Professor Zhang Lingli, etc. They have conducted academic exchanges while , respectively focusing on the topics such as language learning experience of international students in China, linguistic landscape research, multilingual awareness,foreign language education planning with Chinese characteristics, the challenges andopportunities of multilingual teaching in Chinese universities, and the theory and practiceof production-oriented approach.

   In the session of  " Speeches by Young Scholars ", 15 young scholars including HanYawen, Fang Fan, and Wang Chunhui introduced the research results of centered around“Foreign Language Education Planning for Taking Chinese Education Internationalizationtothe Global Stage”. The results were presented  from four perspectives—foreign languageeducation, international education, language education for international students in China,and Chinese international education of Chinese language. 

 In the session of “Dialogue between Between Editors in Chief of Chinese and Foreign Academic Journals”, with regard to the paper writing and publication in well-known journals at home and abroad, which were concerned by the participants, the editors in chief such as Durk Gorter & , Jasone Cenoz, Gao Xuesong, and Ye Qing shared the requirements for the manuscripts and put forward some suggestions, with regard to the paper writing and publ ication in well-known journals at home and abroad, which were concerned by the participants .　     

 In the session of "Poster Exhibition", 9 domestic and overseas scholars such as Cao Zhongkai and Xie Hua presented their research results in international language educationon posters.

  It is reported that the forum was hosted by the School of Foreign Languages and Officeof Science and Technology Development of CUG at Wuhan and co-organized by the ForeignLanguage Teaching and Research Press and Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press.
